Recognising the benefits of producing work clothes such as overalls, jackets and dungarees, Lee set out to manufacture the Lee Union-All work jumpsuit. Legend has it that the idea originated with H. D. Lee himself, who realised the need of a sturdy one-piece outfit that could easily be pulled over uniforms to protect workers from the dirt of their work. The Lee Union-All consisted of a jacket and a pair of work pants sewn together at the waist, designed exclusively for workers.
  • The Lee garment became the official fatigue uniform for American soldiers when Lee was asked to manufacture as many Union-Alls as possible for the U.S Army during the World War I.
